Our Three Locations

Three seems to be a theme with us.

We’re considering three locations right now. The first one is at the Wortham Center grand foyer, which is where the opera performs in Houston. It is a great space with lots of sunlight.  It’s in the heart of downtown and it would be great to have some pictures with the cityscape. My images really does not do the grandeur and the beauty of this space justice.

The second place we are considering is 13Celsius, a wine bar we love in Houston. We go there all the time, we’re friends with the owner, and everyone knows us there. They usually don’t have private events, but they’re letting us, which makes it extra special.

We would floor (wouldn’t black and white checkered floors look great?) and tent the parking lot, and have our ceremony in their courtyard. This would take place next April if we have it here.

The courtyard. It's bigger than it looks in this picture.

This is a great place about an hour and a half outside of Houston. They just finished renovating the building this month. It was renovated by Dana Roy Harper, a 37-year-old artist from Houston.  If we book the Sengelmann Hall, it would be in the Spring, probably in April.

We’re going to visit Sengelmann Hall this weekend! I’ll let you know how it goes!

**Update on Sengelmann Hall: we just got back. It was great! They had pre-prohibition cocktails, lots of beer on tap. The architecture was great—renovation architecture always fascinates me. However, when we went upstairs to the dance floor, where our reception would take place, it was below our expectations. It was…ok, but not nearly as unique and aesthetically pleasing as downstairs. They will get back to us with a price package, but unless it is very, very low, which I doubt because we would have to buy out their usual weekend nights (they usually have a band playing), it’s most likely not going to happen…sad.

How did you decide on a venue? Did you have a theme in mind and went from there? Or was your theme chosen based on a process of elimination through the venue hunting process?

I’m torn! I feel like 13C would hold a lot of sentimental value for you guys since you already have a lot of good memories there. But the other venues are more traditional wedding styles and might be bigger. Bummer about the last venue too…
